While taking photos, you may only think that it only involves a camera and a model... you're wrong. Most people just take bland portraits with nothing exciting going on; I hate to break it to you but, thats extremely dull and boring to look at.
Do Something!
No one is going to ever like your images if there isn't something interesting going on. Would you rather look at a person falling asleep or an action packed movie? I think the answer to that question is pretty straightforward. So, instead of putting your audience to sleep by just normally shooting your subject, use different materials; not just a camera.
Use Different Props
One thing I love to incorporate into photos to spice 'em up a bit are little twinkly lights. The best part about little lights is that you can access them at almost any supply store for a low price! Also, they are super easy and fun to use! They create a super dreamy and stunning effect and really draw viewers eyes toward the subject you are trying to make stand out.
Multipurpose
Have you ever seen a picture of a road with car lights speeding down a road and wondered how they got only the car lights to move? Well, it's easier than it may appear. If you have a camera, you can set the aperture for a longer amount of time so that the shutter speed is slower and you can capture more time and objects moving in just one photo. You can do it with with more than just cars; you can use any lights you have... Even twinkly lights!

There's More...
These lights literally do everything. Not only does it create a dreamy and pretty effect on your photos, it can also create a bokeh effect in your photos. Some of you are probably like "I've never even heard of bokeh before." However, you have probably seen it an insane amount of times while scrolling through social media. Bokeh is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens of a camera.

Look Familiar?
This can easily be done by focusing on a subject in front of lights. The camera automatically blurs everything in the background; including the lights creating the bokeh effect. I hope some of these tricks help you change up your photos a bit and create more of an interesting effect! Let me know if you tried using lights and how they worked for you!
